From the President

I'm sitting at my desk looking at the schedule for this year.

We have just [almost] completed the Match Play - there are only two more matches - one for Champion and one for Consolation.

Team play begins on March 2nd for the "C" Team and March 5th for the "B" Team. We will play through April 6th and hopefully through the 13th At Marshallia Ranch.

Our next exciting tournament will be the Dairy Creek WGC Invitational. Mary Pollock will be running this tournament - and I hope all of you will help make it a great success.

The next game will be the Ringer which runs from June 15th through July 20th. Phyllis Sheets and Louise McCoy will take the helm on this fun tournament.

Others will be:
  1. Club Championship - Sandy Sherer and Bonnie Gromacki
  2. Turkey Trot - Marge McIntyre and an assistant - would you like to volunteer?
  3. Low-Net Championship - Elaine Taylor and Paulette McCann
  4. Christmas/Holiday Tournament - Dian Axelson and Audrey Johns
Whew! I'm tired already! It's also loads of fun to participate in the Pub links Association Days - where we play different courses.

We have a great Board this year - everyone is working hard to make our year run smoothly. My thanks to the Board and all who belong to Dairy Creek who make my job easier.

Subsidized Lunches

This year's board voted to subsidize the cost of some of our monthly luncheons. The lunch on Feb. 2 was subsidized, and five more will be throughout the year.

"Golf is harder than baseball. In golf, you have to play your four balls."

Have a great year, Barbara

Dairy Creek Dairy Daze Invitational

cowAre you ready?

Get your partner now for the June 8, 2009 invitational tournament--one of the best on the central coast.

Members can help by volunteering their energy to do specific tasks, essential to the success of this event. You can contribute a gift basket or join with friends to create a gift basket from multiple sources.

How can I help, you ask? In  several ways:

1 Ask one of your favorite businesses to be a hole sponsor. Our sponsors are the basis for a very successful tournament.

Cost $100 [tax deductible] or $75 for repeat businesses. Contact Paulette McCann with business card so sign can be printed.
2 Solicit your favorite restaurants, resorts, motels, hotels, or business for a free dinner, stay, gift, service, etc. These will be raffle prizes for our entrants.

Gift donations should be at the course by June 1 so they can be assembled by Diane Wyatt and Bernie Kurtz.

Sign a paper with your contribution noted and give form to Mary Pollock so she can contact different chairs of specific committees.

3 Sign up now for contributions for breakfast goodies so Marie Wolcott can make sure supply will be adequate.
4 Get a partner so you won't be left out! Last year (2008) we were almost filled.

We always want and need your help, energy, gifts, or attendance as a players. Forms available on bulletin board.

Rules

rulesDo you have a question about a rule? Ask Mary Pollock or go to USGA / rules website where  you can get most questions answered, especially in the section entitled 'FAQ' (Frequently Asked Questions).

Or Mary will research your question and get back to you with written answer from the USGA.

When you play weekly, a rule explanation will be available. Some rules you may already know, but some will be eye openers.

Remember----rules are an aid to you as well as a guide to your correct play. Do you know how to drop from a hazard? From an unplayable lie? Procedure when ball goes out-of-bounds? These procedures will be covered in a rules clinic in April. Time and date will be announced later.
