Format and Conditions of Competition

This is a two day, 36-hole stroke play competition from the red tees using October 15, 2011 Handicaps.

SLO County Amateur Women's Golf Council policies are in effect and USGA Rules govern play.

Awards

Awards will be given to:
  • LOW GROSS AND LOW NET OVER THE FIELD
  • EQUAL LOW GROSS AND NET IN EACH FLIGHT
  • CLOSEST TO FLAG AND LONGEST DRIVE IN EACH FLIGHT
Ties for Low Gross and Low Net Over The Field will be decided by a sudden death playoff beginning on Hole #1. All other ties will be decided by a card match as recommended by USGA. Second day card will be used.

Long drive and closest to flag contests are on Thursday only. Tee signs will indicate specific contests and flights

Score Cards

Players shall exchange scorecards. After each hole, the marker should check the score with the competitor and record it.

Markers may use the bottom of the card to record their own score.

Immediately after play is completed, each competitor must check their card for hole-by-hole accuracy, sign and attest the card, and have scorer sign the card. Each competitor is personally responsible for bringing their card to the scoring table to deposit in bin. Once cards are deposited in the bin they may not be retrieved.

Use of a master card is strictly up to individual foursomes and are not to be turned in.

Both days scores will be posted by the committee as tournament scores.

Measuring Devices

USGA approved measuring devices are permitted.

Devices which measure wind velocity temperature, gradient etc are NOT PERMITTED.

Cell Phones:

Reminder that cell phones must be turned off during play.

Rules

USGA Rules govern play.

Yellow and Red hazard markers with green tops indicate environmental sensitive areas (ESA). How to proceed:
  1. If your Ball is in the ESA, you must, under penalty of one stroke, take relief and proceed under Rule 26-1a,b,or c.
  2. If your STANCE is in the ESA and your ball is outside the ESA, you must take relief. Rule 24-2b.
Hole # 8. No drop area. The ball must be played over the water.

Hole #14. The following LOCAL RULE is in effect:

The sloping hill is marked with a line designating area as ground under repair (GUR) and there is a marked Drop Area.

If the ball goes down the slope and near the hazard but NOT IN the hazard, free relief MUST BE TAKEN in the marked Drop Area.

If the ball GOES INTO the hazard, the player must use the Drop Area with a one stroke penalty. Rule 26.


Several areas on the course are considered immovable obstructions and should be played in accordance with Rule 24-2b. These are:
  • Hole #5 right side – old buildings
  • Hole #14 left side – old buildings from original Dairy Farm
  • Hole #15 left side – old buildings from original Dairy Farm
  • Hole #17. Right side - concrete ditches
Out of Bounds (Stroke and distance penalty) defined by white stakes on Holes #1 and #9.

Logs used as barricades throughout the course are considered Movable Objects. Free relief may be taken or barricades may be moved and hit from lie.

Unsure How To Proceed

If a competitor is doubtful of her rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, she may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls in accordance with Rule 3-3. DO NOT SIGN THE SCORE CARD. REQUEST A RULING FROM THE RULES COMMITTEE, AND THEN SIGN THE CARD

Slow Play

Slow play will be monitored and may result in a penalty or disqualification.

Warnings for slow place will be issued; foursome will be monitored and if pace is not corrected players may be assessed a penalty. A pace of 15 minutes per hole is acceptable.

Each player IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPEED OF PLAY FOR GROUP. If pace is not maintained after warning, each member or an individual player could be assessed a two-stroke penalty.
